Paper on Data-Driven Operations Management Adds New Perspective on Digital Transformation of Industry
Cyber-Physical Systems are about to change the landscape of industrial practice. The enormous potential for innovation hidden in this new technology has been extensively researched over the past years. The challenge is now to find suitable operational structures to manage the application of cyber-physical practice in industry and process the gigantic amount of data they produce and exchange. In their new paper, Philipp Gölzer of Fraunhofer SCS and Albrecht Fritzsche of wi1 review the current state of the art in the field. They create a comprehensive overview of the different processes involved and their mutual dependencies. Based on these results, tesearchers and practitioners can gain a better understanding of the challenges that have to be faced in industry and develop sound strategies for the digital transformation.
